I'm so excited right now that I have butterflies in my stomach in anticipation for the two most talked about launches of media in SA to date! It's almost like that feeling you get the night before Christmas because your expectations of the real treats lie a sleep away.![]()
Well it's literally hours away for me because not only will I be sitting down with my box of popcorn and Merv by my side to watch the epic Transformers movie tonight, but I will also be attending the launch of the final instalment of the Harry Potter saga.
Yes, it's will be my final tribute to celebrate two fun childhood memories that I have carried with me into my adult life. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be launched at midnight tonight and the books will be available at exactly 1:01am on 21 July 2007.
This book is the final chapter in the Harry Potter series and it marks the end of the story as we know it. However, much has been left up for JK Rowling to decide on how she would like her legacy to end when it comes to the magical boy, Harry Potter. Fans around the world are dying to finally know whether the 'great one' will live or die, and if he, indeed, can finish off 'He who must not be named'.
There has been much speculation on whether or not JK Rowling will end Harry's path in an effort to make sure no one else revives his storyline. Some tactical strategy is obviously needed when dealing with a child series like this one, and one can only hope that the book deals with this in the correct manner.
As for movie goers, the special Steven Spielberg produced treat, Transformers, is sure to smash Harry Potter's reign at the box office with its release tonight. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has had a whole week to rank no.1 over Die Hard 4.0, but will the Autobots and Decepticons leap ahead this weekend, we can only wait to find out.
Now I'm off to choose an outfit for tonight, do I go all sheets of 'metal, chrome and leather' or 'magical, mystical and potty' - it's a tough one, but I'm sure I'll enjoy trying them both out.
If you're a Harry Potter (HP) fan, hope to catch you at the Exclusive Books MonteCasino party and at Cinema Prive if you're watching Transformers. Check out Ster Kinekor or NuMetro if your require tickets for the movie.
PS- If you're not a fan of either, you can always check out the last weekend of the Encounters Film Festival (see NuMetro Hyde Park for more details). It's sure to be good too.
