The newest member to join the Naidoo clan is a little two year Jack Russell who I’ve named Soy. Soy is the cutest two year old around and she has made the world of difference to our home with her lively nature and loving disposition.
For those who haven’t been following my blog, Soy was adopted from the Sandton SPCA last Tuesday after being found as a stray in Ken Valley in April 2007. Not sure exactly where Ken Valley is but I’m guessin’ it’s quite a distance away from Sandton and this poor little dog would have been put down in the next few months if she wasn’t homed.
Alas this story ends well as Soy has become pals with Monty, my four year old Jack Russell/Fox Terrier cross. They’re so funny together and a handful when it comes to getting attention from moi.
Terriers are like that though, they’re attention-seeking dogs and need constant love and reassurance, which I don’t mind providing at all J Soy is very well behaved and is a fast learner too. It’s quite funny having young dogs as they’re both picking up each other’s habits now.
The other day I caught Monty squatting while he urinated and Soy picking up her hind leg when she was doing her thang, LOL. Odd pair these two are but I guess it’s all part of the orientation process.
Some may wonder as to the naming of my new friend, well, after much deliberation and many a laugh at some of my Mom and Merv’s concoctions, I settled on something my Mom says I hold very dear to my diet. Soy products have become all the craze in my healthy eating regime since two and half years when I discovered that I’m insulin intolerant.
Needless to say her name encompasses everything about her: Sassy, zingy, full of life and wholesome.
